To start things off, I have had migraines pretty much my whole life. They suck and I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy. Migraines can present in many different way for different people so there really isn’t an easy way to diagnose them. The most common symptom that gets them properly seen as migraines is the overwhelming nausea that accompanies most of them. That can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to show its ugly face.
I won’t go into gross detail because I hate going through it so I won’t put you through the thought of it. All I will say is that I have good days and bad days with the stomach. My most recent one had me sore for 3 days after all was said and done. The one good thing is that I have a great doctor who has me on a preventative medication and a proactive one for the few that slip through the cracks.
I feel like something that contributes to my migraines is my Ptosis in my right eye. A Ptosis is a defect in the eye which causes varying degrees of drooping and can effect vision if it is severe enough. I believe that I also have Brown’s syndrome which adds to the migraines. That is a defect in the nerves that causes the eyes to move in different directions or not at all when looking mostly up or down, which can also cause pain and issues with vision.
I was born with it and had 1 surgery when I was 3 years old to try and help with the sagging of my eyelid which ended up reversing a fair bit as I got older so it’s back to being a little saggy. I’ve actually learned to love it as the years passed and it’s actually quite advantageous for makeup purposes. My vision in my right eye is actually really, really bad so I can cover it up for more intense looks with no real dent in my overall eyesight. I don’t have peripheral vision in that eye either so it’s like the perfect hidden gem!
Anyway, I think that I will write up a little post each time I get a migraine briefly describing the goings on and happenings of them. Maybe it will help someone out there who has them but doesn’t know the first thing about how to live with them or combat them!
